Mark World Water Day 2009 by Making a Difference

Team up with Siemens Caring Hands to bring life saving clean water to people in need

Read this and already 9 people will have died from lack of access to clean water. Did you know 5 million people die annually and 3.3 billion are affected from unsafe water simply from not having a safe clean supply of water(according to the World Health Organization ). Together, let's do something about it !!. You have a chance to help protect a village, a family and their children. In support of World Water Day, until March 22nd, Siemens Water Technologies will match its employees' donations to provide water treatment systems where they are needed most. The Caring Hands committee of Siemens Water Technologies has established a program in which all Water Technologies employees worldwide can participate. This Caring Hands project will last from March 11th through to World Water Day, March 22nd 2009.

Forgo your latte for a day or even a week. Bring a packed lunch to work. Your modest donation will go a long way. For example, the equivalent of 25 U.S. dollars will provide drinking water to a family every year, for ten years. Now that is making a real difference.

The funds collectively raised by individuals and donated by Siemens employees for World Water Day 2008 made a huge difference to the lives of hundreds of people in the Timor-Leste community. The projects demonstrated that the collective efforts of employee participation through Siemens Caring Hands, combined with cost effective appropriate technology and education, provided an essential service to those in need.
